Melissa,

Very interesting comments on how you differentiate between the various forms of social media. Social Media is still a big blur to many trying to figure out how to use it--you seem to have segmented the various platforms quite nicely.

Phil

Phil,

I think of Twitter as my Social Media “fingerprint.” You can get an idea of who I am by looking at my LinkedIn profile, my blog or by Googling me. Those are like pieces of the puzzle that you pull together, but they don’t give you the full picture. For example, LinkedIn is my “official profile” but like a formal resume it doesn’t tell you much about my personality. My Tweet stream is more like a mind map of what’s going on in my brain – what I read that I found important enough to retweet as well as my own ideas that I want to share. Occasionally the personal will sneak in, like my love for sushi and my study of Japanese, but I try to tweet the personal in a way that adds to my depth without taking away from my core brand. It’s more like the me I would present at a networking cocktail party instead of the more formal “interview” me.

All the best!

Melissa
